Piercing Aftercare

Congratulations on your new piercing! I hope you enjoyed, and are extremely happy, with your piercing experience. The most important part of any new piercing is the healing period and the successful healing of your piercing is entirely up to you. The aftercare service provided by this studio is as paramount to us, as piercing you has been. Should you encounter any problems or have any queries please do not hesitate to contact us.

Caring for your piercing

Clean body piercing twice daily using ‘EASYPIERCING ANTI-BACTERIAL SOLUTION’. This solution has been designed to work quickly and effectively on a large number of bacteria and leaves an anti-bacterial film on the skin. Apply to the piercing entry and exit site and surrounding area. Leave to dry uncovered. If you are unable to purchase this solution at our studio we advise the use of ‘Savlon Wound Wash’, which is readily available at any pharmacy.

 

Rinse oral piercing using ‘EASYPIERCING MOUTHWASH’. This solution promotes extended anti-bacterial action. Incorporating essential oil of cloves, used for its aesthetic, disinfectant, antiseptic and anti-parasitic properties. Its special formula means that you can use it frequently without altering your mouths delicate balance. This mouthwash should be mixed to 1part mouthwash: 3part water. Use 3 - 4 times daily. If you are unable to purchase this mouthwash at our studio we advise the use of any alcohol free mouthwash.

 

Always:

  1. Wash your hands thoroughly prior to handling your piercing.
  2. Delicately wipe away any softened crystalling-appearing crusting with a clean, solution soaked, cotton bud.
  3. Keep your piercing clean and dry.
  4. Encourage fast healing by maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
  5. Contact your professional piercer with any concerns or ill effects.
  6. Oral percings: avoid hot drinks and spicy foods, smoking and excessive alcohol consumption.

Never:

  1. Touch your piercing, or allow others to, with unwashed hands.
  2. Rotate or otherwise force jewellery to move until fully healed.
  3. Wear clothing that would encourage infammation or irritation. e.g. Tight waistbands, belts liable to catch, hats on ear piercings.
  4. Use inappropriate cleaning solutions: alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, antibacterial soaps, surgical spirit, undiluted antispetics or creams.
  5. Remove jewellery until piercing is fully healed.
  6. Oral piercings: engage in oral contact (e.g. kissing) until healed.

Expect:

  1. Discolouration and possible bruising.
  2. Localised swelling lasting several days after piercing.
  3. Excretion of plasma and dead cells in small amounts.
  4. The small chance that some piercings can be rejected by the body. Indications of which are a shrinking of the skin between or around the piercing, soreness and excessive discharge. Any concerns should be addresed to your piercer.
